Printer & tablet setup.

Connect common receipt printers to DineLine when using a laptop, desktop, Windows POS terminal, Android tablet, iPad, or iPhone.

DineLine runs in your web browser. Depending on your printer and device, you may need a manufacturer app or a print helper app to complete printing.

iPad or iPhoneBluetooth or network printer via appUse the printer manufacturer's official app or Thermer. Safari cannot talk directly to most Bluetooth receipt printers.
Any network printerPrinter connected to router by EthernetKeep your device on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

Before you begin

Because different printers have different configurations, there is no single setup that works for every device. Use this guide to identify the right setup path for your hardware, and follow the printer manufacturer instructions whenever they differ from the general steps below.

  • Find your printer brand and exact model number on the label attached to the printer.
  • Check whether your printer connects by Ethernet / LAN, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or USB.
  • Load thermal paper correctly before testing. Incorrect paper direction can cause blank prints.
  • Make sure the printer is powered on before pairing or adding it in an app.
  • If you are using a network printer, your device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

Choose the right setup path

  • Use the laptop / desktop path if you are printing from Windows, Mac, or a Windows POS terminal.
  • Use the Android path if you are printing from an Android tablet or Android phone.
  • Use the iPhone / iPad path if you are printing from Apple mobile devices.
  • If your printer is connected to your router by Ethernet, treat it as a network printer even if you are printing from a tablet.

Network printers (Ethernet / LAN)

Use this section if your printer is plugged into your internet router with an Ethernet cable.

  1. Turn the printer off, then press and hold the Feed button while turning the printer back on.
  2. Release the button when the printer starts printing a configuration or status slip.
  3. Look for the IP address on the slip. It will usually look like 192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x.
  4. Keep this slip handy. Some drivers and helper apps will ask you to add the printer using this IP address.
  5. Make sure your laptop, tablet, or phone is connected to the same main Wi-Fi network as the printer. Do not use a guest network.
Tip: If the printer works one day and stops the next, your router may have assigned it a new IP address. Print a new configuration slip and update the address in your driver or printer app.

Laptops, desktop computers, and Windows POS terminals

  1. Download the official Windows or Mac driver for your printer model from the manufacturer website.
  2. Run the installer and choose the network / LAN printer option if prompted.
  3. If required, enter the printer IP address from the configuration slip.
  4. After installation, the printer should appear like a normal printer on your computer.
  5. Open DineLine in your browser, open an order, and click Print.
  6. Choose your receipt printer as the destination, then set Paper Size to 80 mm / 3-inch receipt and Margins to None.

Android tablets and phones

Android can usually work with Bluetooth, USB OTG, or network printers. For browser printing, RawBT often performs best. Thermer is another option.

Option A: RawBT

  1. Install RawBT from Google Play and complete its initial setup.
  2. Pair the printer in Android Bluetooth settings if RawBT asks you to.
  3. If you are using a network printer, add the printer in RawBT using the network / IP details requested by the app.
  4. Run a test print in RawBT first.
  5. Open Chrome, sign in to DineLine, open the docket or order, tap Print, and select RawBT from the print destination list.

Option B: Thermer

  1. Install Bluetooth Mini Thermal Printer (Thermer) from Google Play.
  2. Allow Bluetooth or USB permissions when asked, add the printer, and run a test print.
  3. Open Chrome, sign in to DineLine, open the docket, tap Print, and choose Thermer or the correct printer from the menu.

Option C: Download first, then print

  1. If the website print path does not reach the printer, download or share the docket as a PDF or image.
  2. Open the saved file, choose Share, select Thermer, and print from inside the app.
USB note: USB printing on Android requires a device that supports USB OTG and the correct cable for your printer. Follow the printer manufacturer manual for USB steps.

iPhone and iPad

Safari and other iPhone / iPad browsers often cannot talk directly to local Bluetooth receipt printers. In most cases, you will need the printer manufacturer app or Thermer.

  1. Install the official printer app for your model where available, or install Thermer from the App Store.
  2. Pair the printer exactly as the printer manufacturer instructs, then run a test print in the app first.
  3. Open Safari or Chrome, sign in to DineLine, open the order, and tap Print.
  4. If your device asks which app to use, choose Thermer or the printer manufacturer app.
  5. If printing from the browser does not work, download the docket, open the file, tap Share, and print it through Thermer or the manufacturer app instead.

Print settings inside DineLine

  1. Open DineLine in your browser and sign in.
  2. Open the order you want to print and choose Print.
  3. Select the correct printer, printer app, or print helper app from the destination list.
  4. Set Paper Size to 80 mm roll or 3-inch receipt paper.
  5. Set margins to None where available.
  6. Do not leave the page size on A4 or Letter, otherwise the receipt may print tiny and centred on the paper.

Quick troubleshooting

My printer app is not showing in the print list.
Fully close the browser, reopen it, and try again. On mobile devices, newly installed print apps may not appear until the browser is restarted.

The receipt is tiny and stuck in the middle of the paper.
The paper size is still set like a normal office printer. Change it to 80 mm / roll paper and set margins to None.

It worked yesterday, but not today.
If you use a network printer, print a new configuration slip and check whether the IP address has changed.

Nothing prints at all.
Check power, paper, Bluetooth / network connection, and that the correct printer is selected in the print menu or helper app.

My tablet or phone is connected, but DineLine still will not print.
Try printing the docket by downloading it first and then printing it through Thermer or the manufacturer app.

The printer is paired, but the wrong printer is selected.
Open the helper app and confirm the correct printer is selected before trying again.

Before you contact DineLine support

  • Have your printer brand and model number ready.
  • Know whether you are using Ethernet / LAN, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or USB.
  • Confirm whether you are printing from Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, or iPad.
  • If using a network printer, print a configuration slip and note the IP address.
  • Take a screenshot of any error message or failed print screen if possible.
  • Tell us which app you are using: manufacturer app, RawBT, or Thermer.

Final note

Different printers behave differently. This guide helps you choose the correct setup path and avoid the most common issues, but the printer manufacturer instructions remain the best source for model-specific steps.
